Private Instruction

• Private instruction is available for individuals with specific and limited learning objectives.
• Establishing a plan of objectives is necessary to stay within a budget.
• Hourly rate is $60 per hour.
• Private classes should not be considered for children younger than teenagers.

To be honest, we don't recommend private instruction. It's so expensive everyone tries to cram overwhelming amounts of information into an hour, and students don't get the benefit of a peer group's experiences or knowledge. Nonetheless, if a short term private class meets your needs, we can provide it.

Individuals who wish to arrange private instruction should first consider their learning objectives. What kind of skills/techniques are desired? What skills and background are possessed already? We recommend that you set clear objectives that can be used to create the structure of the lesson(s). Avoid general goals such as, "I want to learn how to draw," since this is an enormous topic that many artists spend a lifetime refining. A more practical goal would be, "I want to learn how to improve the accuracy of faces that I draw." This is still a fairly large topic, and would require a lot of practice and perseverance, but it's within the grasp of anyone who really wants to learn. Once a reasonable goal is agreed upon we can figure out what kind of instruction to offer, how often and when. You might be looking for a single class or a series. Either way, you decide what works for you, your budget and schedule.

The variety of topics, materials and techniques that may be of interest is so broad that it's impractical to list here. It's your choice.
