New Spring 2009 classes.
Our Manga Drawing class, which was so popular last year, has been expanded to accommodate both the demand and the degrees of sophistication that are required.
Manga 1, is the same program offered last year, featuring Shoujo/Shonen style drawing for pre-teens and teens. This was a popular class that was in-demand and full all year. Manga 1 is a prerequisite for registration into Manga 2.
Manga 2 is a new class. It's the highest level Manga class and will be a project-oriented, independent environment designed to demonstrate and challenge students with sophisticated techniques and processes of drawing as they relate to Manga. These same skills and techniques are applicable to ANY kind of drawing or fine art production, but the focus in both level 1 and 2 classes will be on Manga drawing and development. Manga 1 is a prerequisite for Manga 2, however, samples of art may be submitted for review if the student has not taken Manga 1 and feels he or she is capable of the higher level class.
Basic Drawing for Adults
Many adults have long ago given up any hopes or dreams of being "artistic" even though they continue to love the arts and enjoy the art they see around them. But it doesn't have to be this way. Learning to draw is for most people an enriching experience. It doesn't take much time, everyone can learn how to do it, and it's a self-improvement that lasts a lifetime. This fall we are adding two new classes exclusively for adults. Wednesday mornings we have Basic Drawing for Adults, a two-hour, BI-WEEKLY class that will focus on developing primary drawing skills. This class is open to any adult (beginner, novice, intermediate) who wishes to sign up.
Portfolio Drawing & Painting
This class is intended for teens who see drawing and fine art skills as a pre-requisite for their future higher education. Every post high school college and school that is associated with the arts requires a portfolio for application. While most "art kids" produce their portfolios in high school they are typically constructed as studies and skill demonstrations, such as charcoal, graphite and colored pencil art. Assigned subjects may not always represent the students real interests. Our portfolio class is intended to present an opportunity for students to add to their portfolios with the mediums, techniques and subject matter that the student chooses. Want to work on acrylic paint technique? We can do it. Need to learn more about portraiture? No problem. The student requests the content and we provide the space, materials, guidance and feedback. If your student wants more time for his or her portfolio work, we're happy to work with them.
